The title sets the scene. We’re still in Egypt and our heroes set about restoring the missing capstone to the Great Pyramid. It’s big, heavy and not exactly the sort of thing you can sneak on in the dead of night. They need a plan to get it there. It’s the next step in the trail of clues that have been arriving form off the planet. At least that’s what they believe.
They are not alone in their quest. Other sinister forces are watching and they want that capstone.

It’s passed the half-way mark in first draft. Six more sections to go. First drafts are rough. The often quoted saying is ‘first drafts are like babies – they suck’. The hope is you’ve got the main ideas for the story down in some understandable way.
The next task to go back through it and fill in the big holes. The character who appears but never exits – where did he go, is he still in the room you last left him in? Key bits of action that need to happen in the right order – does it make sense? Then I tend to look at the words. What are the characters doing and feeling? Does that need more explanation? Can we do that by showing what’s going on rather than telling you the reader – that’s generally a boring way to do it.
So getting closer.
